Dear Friends:

The Officers and the Board of Directors cordially invite your organization to participate in our display of Irish Culture in honor of Saint Patrick - The Patron Saint of Ireland - The Annual Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade. This year's parade will be held on Sunday March 15, 2009.

The Theme of the 2009 parade is: ST. PATRICK, GUIDE US TO PEACE AND PROSPERITY.

Our Grand Marshal of the 2009 parade is James. J. “Jim” Coyne Jr. Jim is the Founding President and President Emeritus of the Philadelphia Irish Memorial at Front and Chestnut Sts. This was a 13 year project on which Jim worked tirelessly to develop the best Irish Memorial in the USA.   Jim is the Past President and Director Emeritus of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and Past President of the Galway Society.  Jim is also a member of the Irish Society, a member and Honoree of the Delaware Valley Hall of Fame, and a proud member of AOH Div 2 in Montgomery County. Jim lives in Hilltown PA in Bucks County with his wife Ginny and they have 5 grown children. Jim is an active member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church also in Hilltown PA.

The Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Justin Rigali at ST. Patrick’s Church, at 20th & Locust Sts.  The Mass procession begins at 8:45 AM.

The parade will begin promptly at 11:00AM at Broad St. & Washington Ave. We will discuss this at the next general meeting, which will be held at the Double Tree Hotel at Broad & Locust Sts. in Philadelphia, on January 8th, 2009 at 8:00 PM. You are required and encouraged to attend one meeting where you must also pick up your parade badges.   Our next general meeting will be Thursday February 12, also at 8:00 PM and you know what the weather is like in February, so plan on attending the January meeting.  If any meeting is cancelled due to weather, there will be an announcement on KYW1060AM and I will also post info on our Website Home Page.
